How It Works
The transit-time ultrasonic flow meter operates on a simple yet highly reliable principle. Two ultrasonic transducers are mounted on the pipe – one upstream, one downstream. The transducers alternately transmit and receive ultrasonic signals. When there is no flow, the transit time in both directions is equal. When water flows, the downstream signal travels faster, while the upstream signal travels slower. The difference in transit time is directly proportional to the flow velocity, allowing the meter to calculate both instantaneous flow rate and total accumulated volume.
